According to Hindu mythology, Shivaratri or 'Shiva's Great Night' symbolizes the marriage day of Lord Shiva and Parvati. several but, believe, Shivaratri is that the night when Lord Shiva performed the Tandava Nritya - the dance of primordial creation, preservation and destruction.
